Hi everyone, Im writing to ask you if you could all please kindly take a few seconds to vote for my friend who is currently a few votes away from being volunteer of the year. I had the privilege of volunteering with Carolyn over a period of 7 weeks at an orphanage in Ghana, West Africa. Upon arriving at the orphanage we realised it needed a lot of help, due to the fact that the founder passed away a few years ago & the home of 60 children became reliant on volunteers coming through. The children had such a lack of food that they were chewing on plastic & sometimes only eating once at 4pm each day. This lady deserves the position of volunteer of the year as she was able to raise money to buy a van for the kids so that they didnt have to walk over 3km to school everyday on an empty stomach & she has employed a Mama to help manage the children & has now raised enough to employ two more. If she wins this she will receive $5000 which will go towards sustainable farmland (more fruit & veg for the children which they can also sell at the markets for a source of income).
