Hi everyone. My first post here. Im posting for three reasons. One, to say hello! And thanks for having this group. Two, because the method of drawing this art out of me is something Ive learned from my own seeking, and I think it is a fair example of the fruits of inner work. And three, because one technique in particular involved a bit of geometry that you may find fascinating if you havent discovered it. Not my usual item, this is something I was inspired to do last night. Its not my cleanest work by far, but it meant a lot to me to see it through so I thought Id share it. Inspired by many symbols I often give power to and a wonderful conversation I had yesterday, I made this to let go of 2014. Its been a messy year, to say the least. Finishing this may be the best medicine Ive administered to myself in quite a while. At the center of the hexagram there is normally a blooming rose, but this one has died and is surrounded by a hexagram of ash. Behind it, a whirlpool stands ready to wash it away and take it deep within the earth. It burns with a black fire containing the eye of Horus, who watches the sentiment drift up in the flame: R.I.P., XIV. Around the cabochon there is an inscription from the Art card of the Thoth Tarot (card #14). It reads: VISITA INTERIORA TERRAE RECTIFICANDO INVENIES OCCULTUM LAPIDEM, meaning Visit the interior parts of the earth: by rectification thou shalt find the hidden stone. This is a permanent stain applied with a torch. On the back I have signed it and marked it with my own fingerprint. About the hexagrams: there is actually an equilateral hexagram on the back of the cabochon that is perfectly aligned with the unicursal hexagram on the face. The hexagrams were done with a stencil, but in the process of designing the stencil I discovered that over a three dimensional object you CAN draw both kinds of hexagrams at the same time unicursally, no backtracking over existing lines. Try it with some tape and a ball! Mark the equator every 60 degrees for a visual aid while learning the motions. Im more interested in sharing than selling, but Ill take offers privately if this personally moves you. Thank you all, and happy new year!
