Hi everyone. This could be a lengthy post so stand by. Kayla and I have been doing some work on the proposed dog park (well Kayla mostly) and we have plotted a bit of a path ahead. Submissions for the NPDC Long Term Plan have to be submitted in March/April next year so that means we have a bit of time to get a submission and petition organised. In preparation for this we have developed a draft mission statement for the proposal. We are posting this at this time so you are all aware of what the current thinking is. Mission Statement - To establish a fenced in, off leash dog park where well-behaved canine citizens can exercise and enjoy a clean, safe environment without being an annoyance to people, property or wildlife. - To develop a beautiful, well maintained space open to all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the dog park rules and restrictions. -To view this park as a community project in partnership with the New Plymouth District Council, designed to satisfy the needs of dog owners and non dog owners alike. Well thats it, let us have your thoughts. We have opted for an area at the East End Reserve as our preferred site but also want to identify a further site hopefully as a location for a 2nd dog park at a later date. We will be looking at developing some drawings in the near future for discussion and will also be looking at developing a petition in support of the submission. Obviously we have to come up with a firm plan before we can commence with the petition. Once at this stage we will be looking for all of your support in gathering support for the petition. If anybody else is keen to get more deeply involved in this project please let us know. Thats all for now. Please give us your thoughts and comments. Oh and please remember to share this group with your friends so we can get even more support. Thanks heaps. Denis
