Hi everyone. WE ARE MOVING TO GUATEMALA TO START AN EYE CLINIC! - TopicsExpress

Hi everyone. WE ARE MOVING TO GUATEMALA TO START AN EYE CLINIC! ☺ ☺ Two years ago I brought Kim by the Mississippi River and told him that I didn’t know if we should keep dating because I knew in my heart that someday I would not be in this country. I continued with a dramatic explanation of how I didn’t know who, what, where, when, or how, but I knew that I could not give up on this far off calling that I felt so strongly about. Assuming either Kim would make a run for it, think I was totally crazy, or both, I sat there anxiously awaiting a response. Kim grabbed my hands, looked at me with a big grin, and said, “I know”. What?? You KNOW? How do you know?? Now I don’t know if I can date you because it is creepy that you know this. And why are you so content? Hello do you hear what I am saying?! Since then, this calling has taken us on a whirlwind adventure. We are SO OVERWHELMED WITH HAPPINESS to announce that we are moving to Guatemala to provide the first ever full-time eye care for the indigenous Mayan communities in the highland region of San Andres Semetabaj. 75% of the indigenous Mayan people live on less than $1 a day. They are hard working vibrant people with an incredibly rich culture, but their financial status does not allow them the privilege of basic health care. We want to help them take care of their eyes and give them eyes of faith as they see the way that Jesus sought after the marginalized. Let’s help give the kids who go to school good vision. Let’s help the older women who weave for a living see the threads better. Let’s take care of their eye injuries. Let’s treat infections. Let’s treat glaucoma. Let’s educate them about their vision and their health! Throughout the many months of planning this, it wasn’t even us doing it. God already had it figured out, we just had to show up and say yes. The way everything has worked out has been amazing. Mission Guatemala has opened up their clinic to us. We have an incredible sending church for spiritual support. Equipment is coming in (anyone with used equipment…we still need some!). Glasses and medications are in progress. I graduate from optometry school next week. This is happening. There are still many people that God is banking on to show up. We will be working for love in the clinic of Mission Guatemala. Unfortunately this kind of love can’t pay rent or feed us, but your love in the form of green paper can. Right now we are raising financial support for two years. The more you give the longer we can be there. If you really don’t like us…give us more to keep us there! ☺ Donations can be made by check (preferred) or online. Instructions for both are on our website below. Even more awesome for you, all donations are tax deductible. Every donation counts. PLEASE HELP US MAKE EYE CARE FOR THESE PRECIOUS PEOPLE HAPPEN. Invest in hope with us and send us out!
