Hi, everyone. We had two incidents at Nordonia Middle School today - TopicsExpress

Hi, everyone. We had two incidents at Nordonia Middle School today I want to make you aware of. In the first incident, a teacher saw a hunting knife fall out of a student’s pocket. The student surrendered the knife without incident. The student brought the knife to show off to friends. We have no reason to believe that the student had any intention of using the knife. However, it is against our code of conduct to carry a knife at school, and the student was disciplined appropriately. In the second incident, a student asked a school employee, “Would you be mad if I brought a gun to school and shot people?” Upon investigation, we have found no evidence that would suggest the student had any intention of harming anyone. The student did not have a weapon at school or at home. However, making such statements in school is inappropriate, and the student was disciplined accordingly. Both incidents were reported to the Summit County Sheriff’s office. The Nordonia schools are committed to providing the best education in the safest environment. Tomorrow school personnel will review appropriate behavior and language with students. Joe Clark, Ph.D. Superintendent Nordonia Hills City Schools Follow me on Twitter @DrJoeClark twitter/DrJoeClark
