Hi everyone We have just received the following message from the Ahmed Kathrada foundation: Good day The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation apologises that Mr Kathrada will be unable to fulfill his commitment to attend tonights event due to unforeseen circumstances. This is very unfortunate news and it means that Ahmed Kathrada will no longer be speaking at tonights event. However, our event will still go ahead with Qassam Barghouthi, a former Palestinian political prisoner and the son of Marwan Barghouthi. Marwan Barghouthi is a currently jailed Palestinian leader, and is often called the Palestinian Mandela. He is one of the few leaders who has managed to broker agreements between the various Palestinian political parties and is probably the single most influential Palestinian leader. He is the face of the campaign to free political prisoners in much the same way that the Free Mandela campaign was used against Apartheid South Africa. His political imprisonment by Israel is a disaster for any prospect of peace and a just resolution to the conflict, and Qassam will be speaking about this. In solidarity, The UCT PSF
