Hi everyone Well what a pleasure it has been on the water over the last few days. Great people and great days. The fishing yesterday was hard and the kings just didnt want to play ball by the time we had caught some squid. Thanks for your patience Troy and hope to see you again soon to take up the guarantee. On the upside, the new moon phase has nearly passed and the kings should start coming on the chew again. They are on the move so everyone gets a chance. The other good news is for those that use the poormans downrigger. They are starting to catch kings as well. (a poormans downrigger is simply a snapper sinker or metal flashy jig attached to the swivel to get the bait down to depth whilst trolling. The reason for the name is that when using snapper sinkers and we use rubber bands that break when the kingfish tries to throw the bait. The cost of lead leaves you poor therefore, poormans downrigger) Today though saw us offshore enjoying sunshine and pretty flat seas. Our first stop was at Boultons Reef and although fish were being caught they were all undersized. From there most spots produced a few fish and at the end of the day the guys had a great feed of blue spot flathead, tiger flathead and morwong. There were no massive fish caught today but all were of decent size with the average flathead coming in at 44 cm and the morwong around the 40 cm mark. The better area today was 40m off Turimetta Headland. This area saw a few missed opportunities but thats fishing. Flathead are still being caught over the broken ground off Long Reef and the sand off Broken Bay. There are a few small fish in the mix but with persistence enough decent ones can be found for a feed. If you are after snapper, the better chance is to hit the water before sunrise and fish the Long Reef to Bluefish Point area. Soft plastics, micro jigs or float baits down a burly trail, all should put you in with a chance. Hope this report helps Best wishes Peter
