Hi everyone, it’s Mummy Michelle. I just wanted to thank you all for your caring thoughts and beautiful words on the passing of my sweet Lucee - it has been a very hard week, but knowing there are so many special people out there who truly understand the loss of a canine companion has helped. I will miss Lucee forever, but I know that Miss Marshmallow now has an extra-special guardian angel to watch over her. I would also like to thank everyone for their thoughts, wishes and prayers for Miss Marshmallow. I am ridiculously happy and completely amazed to report that I was able to bring her home this evening. It has been an incredibly difficult and scary few days, but Miracle Marshmallow has certainly lived up to the name that Mrs PFT gave her... Last Wednesday Miss Marshmallow was quite sick - a trip to my vet and an injection of an anti-nausea medication had her back to her usual bright self in no time. At that stage we suspected it may have been a grief response to Lucee’s passing and the general sadness that was filling our home. My other dogs have been grieving just as much as I have... On Sunday morning I awoke to find a very, very sick Marshmallow. I took her to our local emergency vet for some more anti-nausea medication with the hopes of taking her to my regular practice today. Sadly, over the day she declined significantly - to the point I was afraid she wouldn’t make it through the night. So, I took her to the only emergency vet that’s open at night here in Canberra. After many hours of consultations, tests and observation they advised me that it would be best for Marshmallow to stay the night. I collected my darling girl early this morning and took her to my wonderful vet practice. She was so sick and so lethargic during the drive that I was worried I wouldn’t get to my vet in time. During the day I received regular updates indicating that my special girl was actually improving. By lunchtime, Dr Matt decided it was time to see if Miss Marshmallow would eat for the first time since Saturday night. After establishing her favourite food is chicken, a trip was made to purchase Miss M her very own BBQ chicken... For the rest of the afternoon, the nurses hand-fed my girl her special chicken (skin-free of course!) and gave her all the love and cuddles that she was demanding. I then received a call saying that I could bring my little one home. :-) As always, Miss Marshmallow continues to amaze. She is truly invincible! With one exception, her blood test results were almost perfect - incredible for a 16 year old chi. The exception was with her kidney enzymes. It appears that Marshmallow is experiencing some degree of kidney failure which is the likely cause of her recent ill-health. She will be having more tests in a few weeks to check her kidneys again. Thank you all again for your incredible support of my miraculous Miss M. xxxxx
