Hi everyone, just a quick poll. What is the general consensus on g2 (screen) dropping resistors in triode strapped pentodes? I have a 2.5k unused set transformer (just one) and a gu46 tbe (a biggie with a 500w dissipation rating). I am currently waiting for some parts for my gm100 project so in the meantime I wanted to test the tube out with a simple triode connection. GU46 is a pentode 500w plate rating. Since the datasheet warns against screen voltages over 650v and I will be running the anode at 1000v I need to drop the screen voltage with a large enough resistor. So the point is: will the resistor cause distortion? it is not the usual 1k resistor but a rather large 5k 30w unit. I am not hoping to get anything more than 25w clean triode sounding watts out of this thing...... Idea, thoughts, suggestions? thank you in advance
