Hi everyone, since we have a lot of new fans, I thought Id provide - TopicsExpress

Hi everyone, since we have a lot of new fans, I thought Id provide a little info. I started taking photos at PUPS in 2007. At the time, one rescue was taking the majority of animals. In 2009, I started this facebook page after I heard that rescue wasnt going to take as many animals any more. The shelter manager and I built up email lists about the same time. Normally you will see animals here first, and rescues periodically get emails with info about animals in need. You can be guaranteed that if PUPS is in a crisis or has urgent animals, the rescues are getting an email, as well as seeing the posts here. Inundating the rescues with emails from people they dont know, doesnt really help. It actually takes more of their time. They are much more likely to respond to the official email from me, than a plea from someone else. So, please trust that I am sending emails, even though as a passionate fan of the page, you are not seeing them. The best thing you can do to help, is share posts, and help solicit foster homes. The biggest limitation for most rescues, is the amount of foster homes. Im at the shelter once or twice a week. I try to get updates most days, but it is more difficult right now due to reduced staffing. I actually work two jobs, and PUPS is one of my volunteer gigs. Technically I count as a volunteer for all rescues that pull from PUPS, because PUPS itself does not have volunteers. Luckily I am able to do some facebook updates during work, but just so you know, there can be delays, since I am actually working. Im definitely not looking for any praise. I do this for the animals. Just wanted to fill you all in on how it works, and let you know that Im doing everything I can to help the animals. Rescues often prioritize based on urgency, which is why sometimes PUPS gets to capacity, and the animals are then at risk. Weve been fortunate that when that has happened, our rescue partners have come through and saved the animals. But, PUPS does have a limited amount of space, so there is always a risk of filling up, or of an animal going kennel crazy if they are there too long.
