Hi everyone, this is a link to Mickey Trescotts website where you will find information and recipes for autoimmune diseases such as lupus. The diet is supported by Monash and I am living proof that following this lifestyle can change your life. Before lupus I was a fit and active person. After hospitalisation with grade 4 nephritis and many other symptoms I was put on large amounts of prednisone, mycophenalate, methotrexate, plaquenil, endep, pain killers etc. I received a treatment called Rituximab that helped with a lot of my symptoms but I was still extremely fatigued and overweight due to lack of exercise and my diet. I wasnt able to work for several years and was constantly in and out of hospital. My lupus affects my skin, blood, joints, tendons, kidneys and I have also had heart and brain involvement. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired and began researching how I could overcome my day to day lupus and fibromyalgia symptoms and lose weight. After changing the foods I ate, my joint pain started to decrease as did the inflammation. I have more energy, my eyes are clearer (they looked like they had a milky film over them). I have come off methotrexate, endep and all other pain killers. I am down to 5mg prednisone per day and 100mg imuran (which replaced the cellcept) I now have normal kidney function and little disease activity. I know the thought of changing your lifestyle can be daunting, but… it worked for me. Sugar, grains, dairy and processed foods are not my friends!!! If you want to change, you have to be willing to have a real go and probably give up some things that you really like or are addicted to. As well as Mickeys page (she is on FB as well) I follow chef Pete Evans page - he has some great recipes and is an all round inspiring fellow. His followers also post their stories of healing by changing their diets/ lifestyle. I absolutely understand that this is not for everyone. Just wanted to share how I changed my life living with lupus. Gail
