Hi everyone well while being cooped up in the house while the wind blows and the snow falls, we happened across an old cook book from back in 1945 :) its called OLD FAVORITE HONEY RECIPES and was published by the American Honey institute . its 50 pages of good old honey recipes from days gone by and we thought what better way to wile away the winter weeks than to post a few recipes for you guys to try and enjoy. Some are really simple and some more complex, but they all seem lots of fun. We thought we would post one a week or so, so keep your eyes peeled here for the new ones as they go up. first ones will be BEVERAGES: =HONEY COCOA SIRUP = (their spelling not mine :) ) 1 1/4 cups cocoa 1 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon ground allspice 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1 1/2 cups boiling water 1/2 cup honey 2 teaspoons vanilla extract - Combine cocoa,sugar,salt and spices. Add boiling water, Blend. Place over low heat and bring to a boil and boil about 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from fire. cool. Add honey and vanilla and store in covered jar in refrigerator until ready to use. Approximate yield 2 1/4 cups - to serve : Heat 1/4 cup of Honey cocoa syrup with 2 cups of scalded milk over boiling water. Before serving, beat with rotary beater. yield: 3 servings, Honey gives this syrup an unusual smoothness and a delicious flavor in addition to extra food value. enjoy everyone :) , next Sunday is honey lemonaid
