Hi folks - thank you for bringing us to almost 700, real people, chose-to-follow-us, page fans! None of this paid follow nonsense here! Important update: Because Facebook Pages are honestly horrible for two-way communication and on posts by other than the page owners (as in posts by you, our followers), weve turned that feature off entirely. We didnt see you before, now you cant try by accident to reach us and fellow fans that way! Too many times, somebody has posted a new topic or question here on our Page, without realizing that, at best, Facebook hides it up on the corner in a tiny section called Posts by Others and only shows a few words. Nobody ever sees it, nobody ever gets a notification it even happened. You think youre being ignored, but you werent - we and the other 600 or so people just didnt see it! Thats why we created a better place for you to share your questions, ideas, pictures, comments, content, experiences, about Uruguay life. Last August we launched the Uruguay Expat Life Interactive Community on the more-advanced Google social platform. Get to it at this shortlink: is.gd/UYcommunity. Over 200 people already are in that community, and every one of them (and you) get to post items in the Discussion section that are every bit as visible as what we, the site owners, post. Unlike here at Facebook! That is now the only social network where you can post to us in a full-length, typical social media post. Keeping that lousy hidden-post broken Facebook feature makes no sense, so its gone! Were also on Twitter @UruguayForMe and have Google+ Pages as well, but the action on the Google side and overall community side is at our Google Community. If you have any kind of Google ID at all, you already have everything you need to be a member of G+ and of our community. Have Gmail? YouTube comment account? Picasa Photo account? Google Calendar account? Google Apps email? An Android smartphone like a Samsung, HTC, Droid, Moto, Nexus, LG? An Android tablet? A Chromebook? Youre already a member or just a click away from being one. No new ID or password needed. Like this Page, everything we or you post there is open to the world to read. Unlike Facebook, the advanced Google platform also has Hangouts built-in: a group-or-private messaging function that can scale from just one-to-one text chats up through shared video conferencing. So when you want to privately get into details about a rental, purchase, immigration, or other issue with another Community Member, you can pop into a private Hangout.
