Hi folks! As you may know the LA Art Book Fair is this weekend at MOCA. Their preview night is this Thursday and they have decided to commission artist Edie Fake to create an artwork that doubles as a ticket that proclaims, BLM for Black Lives Matter. However, none of the proceeds are going to any organizations or groups involved in this movement and Printed Matter has done nothing to try incorporate the community of activists whove are actively doing the work to challenge the everyday injustices toward black folk (they even deleted someones comment that expressed why they were boycotting the fair on their event page). Coincidentally, my film program Black Radical Imagination will be screening on Thursday so we have invited Patrisse Cullors, Co-founder of Black Lives Matter and Executive Director of Dignity Power now to speak during this time and have invited Printed Matter to participate. It starts at 7pm in The Classroom and were encouraging everyone to voice their opinions.
