Hi folks, Bob again. There is a new Christian documentary made - TopicsExpress

Hi folks, Bob again. There is a new Christian documentary made by Academy Award winning director Daniel Junge and Bryan Storkel, a couple of Christian filmmakers called “Fight Church”. It chronicles the growing trend of Pastors who also happen to be MMA fighters. In case you dont know, MMA, or Mixed Martial Arts is a very bloody and brutal style of “cage fighting”, sometimes called “Ultimate Fighting” that involves bare knuckle fighting, martial arts kicks, punches, elbow shots, slams to the ground, choke holds and yes, blood. It really is the ultimate “Tough Man” competition. Needless to say, this is causing controversy. There are a growing number of Christians and yes, pastors participating in this sport. These pastors pray with and for their opponents before and after the fights, give all glory to Jesus Christ and see this as their sport of choice. Many of them have a concern that Christianity has been “feminized” too much and that many men are turned off to the Gospel message because they think Christianity is for wimpy girly men who just sit around crying and hugging each other. These pastors want to show that following Jesus not only appeals to women and the soft side of human emotion, but that following Jesus is also for manly men and the toughest of the tough. What do you folks think of this growing trend of Cage Fighting Pastors? I know many of you may disagree with me on this, but Im okay with it. I think we have to be careful not to take a personal distaste for punching another guys face for sport and therefore conclude it must be a sin somehow. These MMA fighters train very hard for this sport, just like any other athlete. There are plenty of full contact sports like football and others, and while MMA is certainly more directly physical than football, playing football still involves trying to knock your opponent to the ground. Its all in fun, its all in sport and there are many guys who enjoy some good old fashioned Klingon warrior battles for sport. So, what do you all think of this? I know Ill get some grief for being okay with it and thats okay, we can agree to disagree, but what do you all think? foxnews/entertainment/2014/09/17/fight-church-is-modern-christianity-feminizing-men/
