Hi folks, Bob here. Donald Sterling is the 80 year old owner of the NBAs Los Angeles Clippers who is apparently, quite racist and ugly in his personal views. His girlfriend made public a personal phone conversation they had where he was complaining to her about her posting on Instagram a picture of herself with Magic Johnson. He didnt like her publicly being seen with “black people”, telling her not to even bring them to his games. Wow. I think we can all agree thats pretty ugly. On a side note, for the first couple of days of this scandal, it was assumed he was a Democrat because he had a history of donating to Democrats 20 years ago. However, the entire mainstream media including NBC, ABC and CBS obviously considered his political affiliation an irrelevant part of the story and therefore did not report his Democrat donations from the past. Well, it has now been uncovered that he has apparently been a registered Republican for over 25 years, even back when he was donating to some Democrats. Im curious if the mainstream media will STILL consider his political affiliation “irrelevant”. My guess is no, they wont. I expect we will NOW see the media report that he is a registered Republican. (whatever) Anyway, while no one can question how wrong he is to have these views, there is a little bit of me that is troubled by the fact that many are calling for him to be forced out of the NBA, forced to sell his team, basically forced to give up his company because he harbors personal racism in his heart as revealed in a private conversation. Personal racist thoughts are wrong and sinful, but they are still “legal” in America. Now, let me say something to those of you who dont like me.......dont even TRY to post some comment claiming I am somehow defending this racist or minimizing his comments in any way. I am not and you know I am not and if you try to paint me as somehow sympathizing with this guy or somehow trying to suggest “oh, what he said wasnt really that bad”.......if any of you try to claim this about me, I will call you out for the liar you are because you know full well I have said no such thing or even implied it. The NBA has now responded by “banning him for life” from the NBA, meaning he will most likely have no choice to sell his team. Im curious what you all think of this case. Should he be essentially forced out of the NBA as an owner because of his personal and private comments?
