Hi folks I have a couple of questions. When I brought my 76 P6 S2 3500 auto I didnt notice the belts squeaking but then I didnt drive it for long before changing both the power steering and the alternator belts. It seems worse when the engines warmed up a bit. The belts I removed were full v-belts by Unipart. The belts I brought from my local P6 spares guy near Gatwick and are toothed belts not full v-belts. Has anyone found these to be squeakers? Ive tried tightening them again now they have had some use and it seems better but not silent. Im thinking of refitting the original two belts as they seem in good condition with no cracking and still nice and flexible and just putting the other two in the boot as get out of trouble spares. 2nd question sorry is gearbox related. Is it possible to adjust the kickdown cable without dropping the gearboxes sump to check the lever positioning? My car has the BW65 but seems to be lacking any form of kickdown. Ive done this many years ago and seem to remember having to drop the sump but that was on a Jag and Ive forgottten what I did exactly. I think I just watched a lever and adjusted the cable until it was about to move the lever off the stop. Thanks in advance!
