Hi folks, Ive recently become involved with an organization called 7 Cups of Tea (the name comes from a Chinese proverb.) They provide online emotional support in the form of chatting with trained active listeners. For those of you who might be struggling and need an anonymous way to reach out, its an excellent resource. And for those of you interested in boosting your resume (particularly 911/CYW/DSW/SSW), they have an online internship program, 28 training courses, 18 certification levels and a number of different roles you can perform (including supporting other Listeners) to develop your emotional support skills. Unlike a traditional helpline, 7Cups is focused on emotional support - not crisis intervention. So the range of people assisting is much wider and everyone can be helpful. Check it out :)
