Hi folks, This is a reminder that the Wilderness Hobnob is this Tuesday after work. The Hobnob is an informal happy hour where federal land managers, non-profit wilderness advocates, and everyone in between can rub elbows and get to know each other in a non-issue-based, friendly atmosphere. (The only “issue” we may hear a formal update about is planning for the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Wilderness Act.) If you know someone in the San Fran Bay Area who would be interested in a wilderness-related social hour, please forward this and invite them. You don’t have to work on wilderness to attend! Forest Service staff will be sailing across the bay, all the way from our office in Vallejo, so please come out and say hi to us. I can answer questions about the new California Capacity Building Grants from the National Forest Foundation, and you can meet Dean Yoshina, our new acting Deputy Director for Recreation and Wilderness. Hopefully, we’ll see folks from the National Park Service around the corner as well. Thanks very much to The Wilderness Society and Matt Dietz for hosting in their new office. Cheers, Amanda Wilderness Hobnob Tuesday, June 18, 2013 5:00-7:00pm At the brand new California/Nevada Headquarters of The Wilderness Society 250 Montgomery Street, 2nd floor, San Francisco Drinks, snacks, & conversation for wilderness stewards, researchers, recreationists, advocates, & their friends.
