Feel free to send this e-mail around. I am available to speak to community, church or political groups about any number of environmental topics. ------------------------------------------- 1. The next episode of Eco-Logic is this Tuesday, July 22, 2014, 7 - 9 PM. A two-hour special. Tune to 99.5FM or listen via the internet: wbai.org/playernew.html A huge march of hundreds of thousands is being planned for Sunday Sept. 21, right before the UN Climate Summit. Long-time activists are pessimistic that this UN climate summit will be anything different than the past several, so a group of people from Occupy Wall St. and System Change Not Climate Change are planning an alternative summit to take place the Friday and Saturday BEFORE the march. Another group of people have an alternative summit planned for the Monday and Tuesday AFTER the march. They asked me to announce these alternative summits, but I felt the event should get its own show so we could go into depth. So this Tuesday, Peter Rugh and I and perhaps Natalie McClellen will discuss it, the need for it, and the state of environmental politics in the U.S. Peter and Natalie are involved in planning the NYC Climate Convergence: Real Solutions to the Climate Crisis. Theyll be discussing technological and political solutions, looking at the systemic roots of the problem, and looking at building movements that challenge the exploitation of the environment for profit. WBAI is at 99.5 FM (right in the middle of the FM dial). or You can hear the show live at wbai.org or wbai.org/playernew.html ------------------------------------------- 2. Eco-Logic on Environment TV - Just uploaded this week: The July 8 episode, devoted to Seegerfest, with Kitama Cahill-Jackson (Pete Seegers grandson), Tom Chapin (Harrys brother) and the Chapin Sisters (Toms daughters). We tell some Pete Seeger stories and play some of Petes music, but most of the show is live music from Tom Chapin and the Chapin Sisters, by themselves and in various combinations. They were all in fine voice and it was a treat and a privilege to present this show. theenvironmenttv/2014/07/18/eco-logic-with-ken-gale-presents-seegerfest/ Two hours with musician / activists Charlie King and Ray Korona plus Donna Stein, president of NYC Friends of Clearwater. We tell Pete Seeger stories, from poignant to funny, and play a lot of music by and inspired by Pete: theenvironmenttv/2014/07/02/eco-logic-tribute-to-pete-seeger-part-2-february-14-2014/ The Feb. 11 episode, part 1 of my Pete Seeger tribute: theenvironmenttv/2014/02/18/ken-gales-eco-logic-part-1-tribute-to-pete-seeger-with-pat-lamanna The Feb. 4th episode of Eco-Logic, on climate change: theenvironmenttv/2014/02/07/eco-logic-wbaitown-hall-meeting-in-long-beach-ny/ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Links to full articles from my news and announcements section are on my Eco-Links page: comicbookradioshow/eco-links.html -------------------------------------- 4. Luckily, some of them are permanently archived via Environment TV (see above). The July 8 show is on video: theenvironmenttv/2014/07/18/eco-logic-with-ken-gale-presents-seegerfest/ June 24, 2014: The wonder and mystery of bird migration and why birds are so important to our daily lives. Nature is amazing, interesting, fascinating, wonderful, mysterious and valuable. Most people know that birds fly south for the winter and come back north in the spring. A lot is now known about the wonders of migration and the more we know, the more amazing birds become. But its good to know why birds are important to our everyday lives, because for some people, beauty and wonder are not enough. My guest was Amelia Brackett, who graduated from NYU last year and recently spoke to the Linnaean Society about bird migration, the history of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the economic value of those birds. archive.wbai.org/files/mp3/wbai_140624_200001ecologic.mp3 (The sound quality is a little rough at first, but gets better.) May 13: Pete Seeger and the Raging Grannies! The lyrics and music of the NYC Metro and Westchester Raging Grannies. I played excerpts from one of their dvds, the one where they perform with Pete Seeger, who sang and played banjo with them. I also played excerpts from one of their cds. With guest Peter Rugh of System Change Not Climate Change.
