Hi folks, it is with regret I have to tell you that Glengesh Challenge will NOT take place this year. I just couldnt secure any good hotel deals in the area. Fear not. I have another plan. This October will see the very first Soup run. Aimed to suit all abilities, this Fifty mile cycle will start and finish in Bellaghy. It will head down to Toome and around Lough Beg to Portglenone, and on to Kilrea. From Kilrea, it will head further north to Garvagh where the gentle climbing starts up through the winding roads of Glenullin. Turning left in the heart of the Glen, the road will rise sharply up the famous Mattys Brae as used in the Tour of Ulster these past two years with great success. Just after you summit, there will be a feed stop at Dan Andys where Soup, Tea and Coffee will be on offer. From there its down hill to Maghera via Slaughtneil and on to Knockloughrim, Hillhead and back in to Bellaghy where changing and shower facilities will be available. It will be a great way to finish off your season. Its a route that will be new to a lot of you and Im sure you will find it very rewarding. The entry fee will be £10 per person. All under 16s will be free of course. All profit will go once again to The Belgian Project. The cycle will of course be well supported with back up vehicles and medical crew. I urge you to come along and support this event and help get more of our young ones over for summer racing in Belgium. More details and updates will be available later, but if you have any questions, please give me a call anytime. 02879386502/07770592622.
