Hi folks, today we celebrate. Two years ago today, I went to theatre again to have my stem cell implant augmented, 14 days exactly after that first monumental operation. What a journey it has been! I have not posted for a while as it has been a bit crazy behind the screens these past few months but luckily Im alive and well! A big thank you to my dedicated team who have had to put up with me day in and day out, and yet never complain. I am extremely lucky to have you guys in my life and I wouldnt have it any other way. Thank you for your hard work, dedication and perseverance. It doesnt go unnoticed! Thank you for sharing my dream with me, without you none of this wouldve been possible. I am truly humbled by this whole experience and when I look back I am gob-smacked by how far we have come. To be able to lift a spoon to my mouth, lean from side to side, rock forwards and backwards, rub my face etc. isbloody HUGE!!!! I have feeling all over my body, the pressure sores that I had on my ankles for seven long years have been closed for 6 months with no sign of recurring, and my muscle spasms are decreasing. And then some people still want to argue that the operation made no difference? Let them sing their silly song. This week the world heard about another patient who received stem cells and is making good progress. It is super exciting that there are people on the other side of the world who are also fighting to find a cure. I am honoured to be a part of that struggle, to be able to contribute to science in a way that might make a difference to others as well. Hope will not fail. There is still a lot of work aheadof us and I cant wait for the next two years to pass to see how far we’ll have come by then. Thanks for all the support, and hold onto your seats – we have not finished changing the world!
