Hi friends, Daniel here with some, uh... things to tell - TopicsExpress

Hi friends, Daniel here with some, uh... things to tell you! Short version: I have stepped down from my position in URIZEN and will not be performing any further shows with the band. Long version: For more years than I can accurately keep track of, I have been living my lifelong dream of being in an amazing band, touring the country, and playing shows in front of tons and tons of incredible audiences (that’s you guys!). But the time has come for me to walk away from this crazy and spectacular lifestyle, and the reasons are, well... numerous. The primary reason is parenthood. I have two unbelievably awesome children who I love more than anything in the world, and the only thing that truly matters to me anymore is spending as much time with them as possible. Being a touring musician is a wild and wonderful thing, but it doesn’t hold a candle to the joy I get from being with my kids. They’ve put up with the bullshit of “daddy on the road” for long enough, and it’s time for me to be there for them 100%. The secondary reason is… well… I’m just burnt out. I ain’t no spring chicken anymore. I’m an old guy (not really) with grey hair and shitty knees, and the life of riding around the US in a Macho Van and slaying goo monsters every night just doesn’t agree with me anymore. When the thing that was once your passion becomes an obligation you do begrudgingly, it’s time to walk away. And that time has come for me. The remaining reasons are complicated and messy, so instead of going into all of that I’m just going to say this: thank you. Thank you guys for giving me everything I ever dreamed of as a kid. Playing for you and meeting you and hanging with you has given me experiences and memories that I will hold on to for the rest of my life. I’ve met more amazing people in that last ten years than I ever could have dreamed possible, and that is something that I will cherish until my final day. Seriously… each and every one of you has played an irreplaceable role in my life, and I am forever grateful for that. So in the most sincere way possible via internet methods: THANK YOU! In my absence, URIZEN will go on, and URIZEN will grow stronger than ever before. These guys are my brothers (including my actual, literal brother…), and I want nothing more than for them to conquer the globe with robots and rockin’ VGM-inspired tunes until all of the peoples of Earth are collectively begging for mercy. They are going places, and they deserve it. Thank you all again for the beautiful experiences you have given me, I will cherish them forever. I’m leaving one lifelong dream to fulfill another, and I hope each and every one of you achieves the thing you’ve been dreaming of as well. This spaceman is touching down for good. Endless love and gratitude, Daniel
