Hi friends, Im having a bad day so i feel like finally sharing my story. It makes me feel better to talk about it and make a time line in my head. I was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain avm in may 2013 when my doctor ordered a head mri due to frequent fainting spells. The mri showed an abnormality so I had an angiogram at the end of may during which they decided that my avm was untreatable because its too tightly wound. My avm is located at the top of my brain stem and is 4.6 cm long and is a part of my corroded artery. I dealt with fainting spells and severe headaches for most of my life until my avm ruptured on June 2nd of this year (which also happens to be my birthday) I was on the phone with my mom when it happened. I had spent the night at a friends house the night before and had just stopped at my dads work to get money to go shopping and was driving to payless to get some new shoes. I was lucky enough to have parked in the parking lot by the time I started seizing. I had just parked and called my mom to tell her that I felt weird I only realized later that the weird feeling I was experiencing was no pain because the pressure in my brain had been released. My brain exploded, wooooo!! I was taken to my local hospital and then flown to a better hospital in Omaha where they drilled a hole in my head and inserted a drain tube to drain the blood which had, luckily, been contained in my ventricles. 10 days later, when they were trying to get ready to send me home, I had a stroke which left my left side paralyzed. On June 26th my mom was able to take me to Madonna rehabilitation hospital where I stayed until august 7th doing intense rehabilitation. Now, almost 7 months later, I have full use of my left leg and am starting to get more movement back in my arm. Im planning on graduating high school in may and going to college to become a nurse.
