Hi friends. Today was a tough day. Got little sleep last night but woke up determined to get some desperately needed work done. Got out at 6 am to find a branch in kinkajou enclosure had broken overnight causing a ceramic tube wedged between to collapse & somehow broke Reggie Bushbaby lower leg. A very special thank you to SVs veterinarian Dr. Tamra White of Springlake Animal Hospital for taking such good care of our lil guy! Reggie is home and resting. He will be inside for a while, separated from his buddies & limited movement. Difficult for me to see him injured because I feel like I could have prevented it. Accidents will happen I understand that. But its tough mentally dealing with them. Im sorry to all of you who called today. I tried returning all calls but was not in a good mood. We are working on an easier online scheduling system. I apologize for not be able to take last minute tour requests & only offering tours on weekends & just a few days during the week. I hope you can understand I run this facility by myself. & do have a great group of vols that help me but most times its only me. & the animals Ive dedicated my life to caring for are always, and will always be my number one priority. Unfortunately today none of my cats or bears got playtime outside their enclosures, taking care of Reggie was what mattered most.
