Hi friends, members and supporters of the Ossining Boat and Canoe Club, First, I want to thank all of you who have offered to be present in the dead of freezing January for our Paint The Town Red support rally originally scheduled for tomorrow night at 6:30, preceding the Town Hall meeting at the Ossining Public Library. Our supporters are a strong and determined breed, and were grateful. However, by the time we would be gathering outside, the current forecast is calling for 5 - 8 inches of snow and frigid temperatures, and we at OBCC care about your safety. Rather than be the reason you might attempt to navigate possibly dangerous travel conditions, we have decided to call off the rally portion of tomorrow nights plans, to be rescheduled at a future date when conditions are more favorable. At this time, the Town Hall meeting is still scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow evening. I do not know at what point the Supervisor will make a determination about whether to postpone it, but I expect it may be close to the last minute. Many of us are still planning to attend the Town Hall meeting at 7:30, and to address the Town Board with our prepared statements and questions, regardless of the conditions. All are welcome to join us, but again, if travel conditions are bad, we want you safe (and warm!). Please use your own discretion in any travel decisions you make, but please ALSO check your e-mail, the Town website, and/or feel free to check in with me before you venture out, to make sure the Supervisor has not canceled the meeting! I will send out another update tomorrow if at any point I hear of the Towns decision about holding the meeting, and if I dont hear anything, I will send an email update out at about 6:00 p.m. to let you know how things stand at that point. We have had a number of new supporters step up strongly in support of the preservation of OBCC in recent weeks, and Id like to take this opportunity to thank them and ALL of you for standing with us. Also, the letter writing campaign has yielded some truly fantastic writtten testimony.
