Hi guys. A couple of places available on the workshop below. If you would like to attend send us a message on facebook or email us at hemingwaybhp@gmail or polettin@gmail Improvisation with John Dawson next Saturday 23rd November @ The TeachersClub Improvisation develops ones confidence, spontaneity, reactivity, and creative thought processes as well as communication and collaboration skills. In addition to being a mode of live theatre, it can be used as a tool to create characters, develop original dramatic, and/or comedic material and as part of a rehearsal process to explore written text. In this one day class, the mechanics, the ‘how tos’, of improvisation are explored and experienced through structured games and exercises developed by improv gurus such as Keith Johnston, Viola Spolin, Del Close of Chicago’s iO Theatre and North America’s famous Second City Theatre. This is 100% experiential learning with no absolute rights or wrongs...just a positive, playful, and highly creative collaborative process. The basic rule of improvisation is to accept ideas and offers from a collaborating partner or partners. By doing so, a true ‘creative space’ is created where everyones ideas are freely communicated to contribute towards a common goal. John Dawson studied under improv guru Del Close while training in improv at N. America’s famous Second City Theatre, the forerunner and principal casting pool for long-running hit TV show Saturday Night Live. John has been teaching master-classes and workshops in improvisation, characterization, scene study, audition technique and on-camera acting for over 19 years in three countries. He has taught hundreds of actors and comics in his own Dublin workshop and at Dublin’s Gaiety School of Acting, The Actors Centre in London, The Galway Film Centre, and Toronto’s Equity Showcase Theatre. He taught film acting for over 6 years at Trinity College’s Samuel Beckett Centre. John is a produced playwright, screenwriter, and director. His own Dublin-based improv troupe MONDO BIZARRO performed 5 sold-out shows at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2013. for more info or to enrol email us on hemingwaybhp@gmail or polettin@gmail
