Hi guys Ive got a question for the audio gurus out there. I recently had an alpine type R sub and alpine mono block installed ( I can get the model if needed). After taking the car for a drive and testing out the sub I noticed that the bass wasnt very strong at all so parking the car and started playing with the base control through the head deck , and noticed that it had been set by the installer to the lowest setting. So I put on one of my more basier songs and wound the base up. I didnt put it up ridiculously or anything, just nice and loud , and there was no clipping or distortion. Once the song had finished I selected another song and there was no base except for this horrible rattling noise coming from the sub. I took it back to the installer to ask him about it and he said I had fried it. Apparently you have to run subs in slowly (about 30 hours he said). Im going to try and get a new sub under warranty but he said he doubts they would accept it as it was my fault. Ive never heard you need to run subs in and it doesnt state that anywhere on the box ! I havent actually checked the owners manual yet. What do people think , is this normal for a sub to blow if you turn it up when its brand new?
