Hi guys, happy August! Weve come a long way since the sturm und drang of Aprils cardinal grand cross. Celebrate the victory because we really went through something extraordinary and now were on the other side! But there are times, such as today, when the Libra Moon and Venus in Cancer fall in line with Uranus and Pluto and we have a little burst of that angsty r-evolutionary energy. Yes, this will make for a cardinal grand cross, but the sort that lasts hours instead of days or even months. Just breathe, engage in self care, and surrender to this ongoing process of deep personal change that you are experiencing. Mars also squares Jupiter today, which is great for action and creativity, but also great for overdoing it. (If youre new to the concept of a cardinal grand cross and its role in 2014, more here: empoweringastrology/the-cardinal-grand-cross-of-2014) I had a really great conversation yesterday with a colleague (hi!) who is a fellow Scorpio and new to astrology beyond the Sun signs. She asked a fantastic question that I thought would make for good discussion here. I read your updates . . . . but what does it mean for Scorpio? Heres the thing — these astrology updates apply to everyone. Think of it as a big picture look at what is going on. True, a Scorpio or even a Gemini will experience these energies in different ways, but were all dealing with a common theme of deep personal transformation in 2014 that goes beyond Sun signs. I know many of you only know Sun signs, but it is my hope that little by little I can introduce you into the wider vocabulary of astrology beyond the Sun. That maybe you now know a little bit more about Venus or Pluto and intrigued enough to go and discover more on your own. Maybe youve looked up your natal chart even if you have no idea how to read it. I have a very democratic spirit when it comes to esoteric wisdom and I hope that astrology can be another tool in your toolbox of self discovery. Dont get me wrong, Sun signs are still very useful. The represent a core sense of self that each of us carry. And at this core, for example, an Aries will carry a spark of action and pioneer spirit. But depending on what day, what year, and what time you were born, you are going to be a unique expression of that Aries energy. Or Pisces. Or whatever sign you are. When you start bringing in the Moon, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, etc, you get that wonderful blend of cosmic energy that makes you *you*. And so how do you apply your consciousness to these energies? How do you start to make more informed decisions based on a better understanding of self? And how do you be the best you — happy, healthy, and whole? That is Empowering Astrology
