Hi it’s Mark. What a great start to today! As group of volunteers met in the village of Anstey, knowing full well that the day’s activity was going to be about clearing some dangerous barbed wire from some land being used to keep horses on. We met with the owner of the horses to be shown that not only had much of the wire already been cleared since I filmed there but by far the vast majority of the ragwort (which I thought was a project in itself) had been pulled up. RESULT!!! We were not entirely let off the hook though as a small area of ragwort remained, but between willing pairs of hands it was soon dealt with. We also had one quite intensive area of wire to shift, which had become embedded & overgrown but again many hands make light work. All this stuff is a massive learning curve for me & the Anstey situation has been part of that! We have a good relationship with the owner & good communication & in hindsight I should without doubt have made contact with them first as all that was needed were some helping hands. THANK YOU! To our volunteers for turning out on a Sunday & THANK YOU! To the owners for allowing this to happen. It just shows what can be done when all parties work together for the good of the horses putting them FIRST! Mark.
