Hi ladies. Asking for some help tonight. I have been contacted - TopicsExpress

Hi ladies. Asking for some help tonight. I have been contacted by a woman who is thinking about homeschooling. Please read the message she sent me (and agreed to let me share here) and my request that follows. Thank you. I have an almost-9 year old (in 3rd grade), an almost 4-year old, and a 13 month old. My 3rd grader is severely ADHD and is really struggling in school. The schools are largely unwilling to work with me and are threatening to fail her. My middle child is very active and wont sit still or pay attention long enough for me to teach him anything. He may also be ADHD or he may just be following his sisters example. Both are very smart, but my eldest is really lazy and whiny. I worry if I take her out of public schools, she wont get the practice socializing that she needs with all of her behavior issues. But I worry if I dont, the social problems will severely damage her self-esteem. The baby has developmental delays are were working hard at PT and OT to get him caught up. I myself am ADHD, as is my husband. I work and go to school, but Ive cut back on work hours. My husband works 50-60 hours/week. I dont know how realistic it is for me to add this also. Or how I would even start. Now, of course I encouraged her, saying that I believe bringing her daughter home would give her the help she needs, but was honest with her that I know nothing of the ADHD element that her, her husband, and her daughter will be dealing with. Obviously, their lives are already busy too and something will need to give. After talking more with her, she thinks she may be able to cut work hours down. So, my request is this... Anyone here have experience with ADHD and be willing to come alongside this mom? I will encourage and support her 100% but feel I am doing her a disservice if I ignore the ADHD element. There will be days ahead where she will need someone to lean on. Thanks for your consideration and for reading this long post! PM me if you can help. Thanks in advance!! 😘
