Hi, my name is Kelly and I am a volunteer at After The Homestretch. It was suggested that I should hop on the page now and again, and write a little something about the goings on at the ranch. The thoughts and opinions expressed here will not necessarily reflect the thoughts and opinions of the horses, or anyone else associated with After The Homestretch. Now that I have made my disclaimer, off we go. Monday the 10th, a busload of seniors visited the ranch. Stu was a big hit because he is such a sweetie. Everyone petted him and fussed over him. He loved the attention. Comet made quite an impression. Literally, and with his teeth. Apparently one of the visitors (we’ll call her Mel) was holding a mint, which Comet was sure was for him. Who wouldn’t want to feed Comet, right? So he decided to help her. The result was a nip. Mel was not seriously injured, and is now wiser but not older. Comet is the same. Catherine put on an awesome demo with Tyger. She explained the use of training sticks to safely evaluate horses, and explained that many of the horses who come to After The Homestretch often have very little training or manners. Tyger was very brave, and so was Catherine, who overcame her fear of the attention and crowds to help make sure things went well. A good time was had by all, and hopefully we will get some new contributors, because apparently Comet really likes mints. To anyone out there interested in helping, horses eat like giant teenagers, so we can always use donations for hay. Thank you!
