Hi, new to the group, found something fun, coincidental, and amusing. =) Re-reading NotW, Kvothe and Dennas meeting at the Eolian: “ ‘So we were ill-lit ships at night ...’ ” I quoted. “... ‘passing close but all unknown to one another,’ ” Denna finished. “Felward’s Falling” The metaphor reminded me of this quote: Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing, Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness; So on the ocean of life we pass and speak one another, Only a look and a voice, then darkness again and a silence. -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Tales of a Wayside Inn Got giddy seeing Wayside Inn and being reminded of the Waystone Inn... wonder if Rothfuss is intentionally dropping little literary references often. =P
