Hi people! Kyuden Holland has returned to the L5R tournament - TopicsExpress

Hi people! Kyuden Holland has returned to the L5R tournament scene. And the rest of the world still trembled for us :) Many people kept an eye on the Team Orange, who in our own natural fashion, drew everyones attention by wearing orange shirts. The team consisted of Harvey Weder, Thomas van den Berg, Faber van Kraanen, Hans de Moel, Maarten van Twisk, Pim Oliekan, Thijs Kaars and Vincent Brugge. At the gaming store Outpost Brussels we met many veteran players and we had some good talks and laughs. But we came here to do one thing, play l5r :) The tournament had 6 rounds, everyone who scored 4-2 or better went to the top 16. Kyuden Holland managed to get two of its members ( Hans de Moel and Pim Oliekan) into the top 16 but both were eliminated afterward. We did not stay long enough to see who won the finals, but i managed to get some info of the L5R begium site. From the L5R Begium thread: TOP8 : Vincent Degée (DG) bat Antoine Franqueville-Roy (CN) David Toledano (CN) bat Julien Van der Steen (UN) Niklas Rinn (SC) bat Laurent Meulemans (LN) Anthony Pierre (CN) bat Nicolas Duhamel (DG) TOP4 : David Toledano (CN) bat Vincent Degée (DG) Niklas Rinn (SC) bat Anthony Pierre (CN) Finale : Niklas Rinn (SC) bat David Toledano (CN) It seems that the kotei has won by Niklas Rinn, who played a scorpion deck. More info will follow soon. The tournament scene was strong. Lot of the good players were present and they had some pretty nasty decks with them. The military decks were dominant. I did not see any pure honor decks. My view of the field at the kotei is as this: Crane Fallen Dueling Crane Scout Military CR-ONI = Shadowlands/Fallen from crane clan stronghold Note: A third of the field was playing crane. All of these decks played with the Akagi sensei. Many people think that the sensei is a bit too good. Its draw back is not strong enough for what it allows you to do. More than a third of the top 16 was crane so that says it all. Scorpion Dishonor/control Lion Swarm military Dragon Kensai duelling Unicorn Scout military Mantis Swarm military Phoenix Deathstar The rest of us had 3-3 or 2-4 scores. For some it was a bit of a disappointment but for others it was still a lot of fun. Most importantly, to play a kotei in the Ivory Edition arc is important to get an idea of the field and gain battle experience against good players. We managed to collect some good cards for the folks back in Rotterdam. I would like to thank the people of the outpost brussels, Sebastian and his team for orginazing the kotei. Also I want to thank the rest of the players who allowed me to borrow cards. Finally I want to thank Thomas for driving me to Brussels and arranging our hotel.
