Hi team, Im posting this on behalf of a friend of a friend. Shes looking for a couple of volunteers to test out a device that collects running data and provides insights. Mandi will also be at the Expo. Please reach out to her directly if interested. --- Scribe Labs is looking to team up with a handful of pioneering runners to test out the runScribe device during the 2014 TCS NYC Marathon. runScribe provides 3D, kinematic insights into the mechanics of how you run by capturing the complex motion of your foot. This data is captured through a lightweight device mounted to your shoe that will record metrics like: number of footsteps, pace, pronation excursion, pronation velocity, contact time, foot strike and impact and braking Gs. For more details on runScribe and the data it collects — visit runscribe. These data points will culminate in a personalized runScore, which will be available to you after the race. Collecting this type of data will enable Scribe Labs to better understand what happens during the course of a marathon - the data gathered will be aggregated to create the first mapping of kinematic data for a marathon. None of the data will be personally identifiable. Requirements for participating are fairly simple. You will need to pick up your runScribe before the TCS NYC Marathon (likely at the Expo). You will have two options for attaching the device to your shoe, either a metal clip that will loop over the back of your shoe, or applying a temporary adhesive mount to the back of your shoe. The device weighs less that 0.5 oz and will not interfere with your stride. Once the device is securely mounted, all you have to worry about is running! The device will automatically begin collecting data when you run and it is no problem if you want to run prior to the race. We will provide you with a return location (close to the finish) to turn your device back in. In exchange for your participation, you will be given voucher for two free runScribe Pros, which will start shipping in December. If you are interested in being a runScribe pioneer, please contact Mandi Mena (mandi@runscribe) with any questions or to sign up.
