Hi, the vet cultured our dog and said she had some kind of infection- a bacteria that lives on dogs skin but had gotten out of control- like mange and such- all dogs carry it. They didnt culture my other dog but assumed they had given it to each other. It took a while for them to get the medicine compounded. So in the meantime I changed her food to only fish and potato, cut out all corn, wheat, etc. Added coconut oil to her food or made sure to feed it to her, rubbed her down twice a day with the oils as well. Her allergies from the summer weather have disappeared and she looks cleared up and he hair is growing back finally. We have tried the medicine. Last week for a few days. And they both totally lost their appetites. We were planning to change them over to raw and couldnt understand why they wouldnt touch it. We went back to the kibble. I put all kinds of meat juice in it. No go. Called the dermatologist and he said take them off until they eat again and start them back on a lower dose. She was taking four pills three times a day. We stopped. She was eating happily. We made the decision to give her 3 pills only two times a day, less than instructed. Its been two days and she wouldnt eat this morning. Emailed the dermatologist and they are away until January. I am stopping the pills and when she (they) are both eating normal want to try the raw again. I dont want to give them any more pills. He still looks the same in one spot and she was getting better before the pills. The kicker- the pills cost $700!! I really dont want this stuff in my dogs bodies. The warning on the side of the pill container says handle with gloves! Suggestions?
