Hi there, My name is Rhys, and you blessed me with the best gift when your SPCA Vancouver Branch gave me the most priceless gift when you allowed me to adopt an 8-week old puppy you had named Akon. He was at the branch with his sister, who you had named Rihanna. We had been told that Akon, who we renamed Hunter S. Thompson-Bell (get the literary reference? LoL), was a pitbull/lab mix. Well....we questioned that when he became a 110 lb. behemoth. We did DNA tests and discovered he was actually a German Shorthair Pointer/Rottweiler mix. Made complete sense to us - he had the coloring of a GSP and the long legs, but also the beefy body, goofy ears and fierce loyalty of a rottweiler. Hunter has brought so much love and laughter into our lives. Hunter is never without me or my husband, and he has become my husbands office dog at his company, RosterBot. Hunter is officially known as the Chief Security Officer, but who are we kidding, he just sleeps, barks at the UPS guy, and steals his co-workers lunches. In fact, Hunter has become such a celebrity in his work neighborhood that he was chosen as one of the inaugural Dogs of Gastown. He got his own photo shoot and everything!! He is a bit of a celebrity now (haha), but it hasnt gone to his head at all. Hes still the same ol Hunter - goofy, funny, loving, protective and loyal. He has been THE best gift Ive ever been given, and he enriches my life in ways I cannot describe in mere words. He keeps my soul nourished and my wallet empty (because hes so spoiled...SO SPOILED!)
