Hi there! This is my dog, Beretta. (unfortunately spayed female) - TopicsExpress

Hi there! This is my dog, Beretta. (unfortunately spayed female) According to a DNA test, she is supposed to be Dachshund, German Shorthaired Pointer, and Whippet (along with about ten other breeds including German Shepherd). She gained a ton of weight after I put her on Nulo dog food and then I quickly switched her to another brand and saw very little weight loss. Long story short, she has been raw fed for the past month and a half. I switch between home prepared raw and frozen Instinct Raw or Vital Essentials, depending on what I can get in my area. We try to stick to prey model as much as possible. (she only gets the veggies in Instinct Raw) I think she is overweight. My vet told me about a month ago, she needed to lose five pounds. She has lost about 6 or 7 pounds since then, but I still think she is overweight because I cannot easily feel her ribs yet. Her back end has plenty of muscle which is hard to see in the pictures, but she doesnt seem that muscular in the front end. Will that change when she loses weight or is there some type of exercise I could do to help her in that area? She gets walked twice daily. She has no problems running or jogging for long amounts of time. She does get some agility training with the jumps I have at home. She plays with my other dog and also plays fetch for long periods of time daily. My apartment complex has a dog park, so she also gets to run free in the dog park. I admit I probably need to step up her exercise. Does anyone have any suggestions for weight loss for her or how much you think she needs to lose? She is currently around 50 pounds.
