Hi this is an update on Mikaelas status we meet with all our team this morning Neurology and Oncology about their plans and layouts for Mikaelas current condition. The Neurologist state they dont know the reason for the hemorrhage but they dont think the size of the hemorrhage is getting bigger and they dont feel surgery is needed as the body/brain would absorb the blood and the vessel will heal like a wound. They are still in the dark as to why it happened but it makes them want to look further due to her medical history. Theyre going to keep an eye on her and in one to two weeks they will do another MRI but she has been transferred to the Oncology team to investigate the other avenues to see if Mikaelas Neuroblastoma has come back. Its rare for it to hit the brain but it has happened. Our Oncology team were moving fast to line up all tests ASAP to determine if the hemorrhage was due to a tumor. They lined up an abdominal ultrasound to be done in the ICU then later today they had set up an MIBG for her tomorrow so they had to inject her with the radioactive dye this afternoon. We are so lucky as they had enough radioactive material left to do the MIBG or we would have had to wait a week as the material is made in Montreal. We are very blessed that its all lined up for Mikaela. Thursday morning at 10:30am Mikaela will be put under for her almost two hour MIBG test. Today Mikaela has been having severe headaches that are causing extreme pain, theyre giving her Hydromorphone and something for nauseous. Mikaela was sick three times this evening due to the pain, she cant handle light, noise and if she cries because shes scared or after an examination she gets sick. Mikaela and I (Mommy) had a nice nap together at supper time and we both enjoyed that time. I gave her a hand bath as she laid on the bed after her last upset stomach to make her feel better to curl up and she really liked it. Daddy went out and got Mikaela a beautiful Balloon from the IWK gift shop and tied it to the end of her bed. When Mikaela and I woke up her eyes opened up and spoke for the first time today Happy Face and smiled...what a sweet moment! Thank you Daddy! Right now shes sleeping well as they are giving her the pain meds around the clock to relieve her pain as the hemorrhage is causing pressure to her brain. We havent heard any details back on the ultrasound but tomorrows MIBG will be the big Test and will give us answers. Answers that might give us relief or answers that we might not want to hear. We appreciate all your support and prayers, we are truly blessed. If you could all pray that this MIBG shows no Neuroblastoma (as this test is mainly done only for that type of cancer) we would be so grateful. We will update you agin later tomorrow. May God bless you all! Love Shana
