Hi, well, we are about to hit 300 members and seeing some good agates offered for sale. With thousands of Lake Superior Agate collectors here on various groups on Facebook it seems that this group has nothing but upside. Also, of course, are people from around the world some of whom would like to add a Laker to their agate collections. There are no fees to sell here like on internet auctions sites and with a lot of knowledgeable collectors here the ridiculous prices and descriptions seen on internet auction sites will be laughed off here pronto if anyone tries etc. There are already with 300 members probably thousands of collecting years of experience among us! In the case of auctions ( and for sale posts as well ) we suggest that members remove their posts when the agate has been sold or the auction is ended. It the agate remains unsold then the post can remain on the group page. Auctions are a good way to get the most for something. We have two suggestions and perhaps other members would like to make suggestions too. Please feel free to make suggestions regarding how to run auctions on the group page. These are the two ideas: 1/ Some auctions could be silent auctions. In these the bids would be made by personal message to the person who is auctioning off the agate. Some people may like to bid higher and dont want the eventual prices paid to be public knowledge. Upon the end of the auction the seller could post the eventual winning bid and/or winner or not depending on the wishes of the bidder and seller. 2/ Members auctioning agates might want to consider reserves on their auctions. Most of you will already know what this means. A reserve is different from the starting amount in that the bidders usually dont know what it is. Just an idea. We can kick around these and other ideas members may have on how to run auctions and other selling activities. This group can be a good thing for buyers and sellers alike. All it will require is consideration for others and honesty etc. So, lets just have fun and enjoy the agates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! John and Denise Photo is just for some eye candy...a Laker I polished and Tom Shearer photographed ( thanks Tom! ). This gem is not for sale but lookin is free so enjoy!
