Hi, wondering if anyone has any solutions to this ongoing problem. I work in a really big hospice and it is hard for patients who cant walk or fatigue easily self propelling to get around independently. The NHS wheelchair centre only supplies power chairs to people that cant walk at all or self propel at all and the wait time for assessment and issue is long even for those who fit criteria. We have been discussing buying power chairs or buggies but then we would need our own criteria, maintenance and there may be insurance implications too. Then we wondered about setting up short term loan agreements with private mobility companies, but havent approached any yet. I know there are many pts in public hospitals who cant move independently but as a hospice we would like to be able to meet the need of these people if we can come up with a way.
