Hi yall, I know this community is very generous and giving, so I wanted to post this here in hopes that the right person (or people) with a giving spirit might see it. 5 years ago my mother passed away at 54 from a disease called systemic lupus erythamatosus--SLE or lupus for short. She battled it for nearly 20 years before it took her life. It caused her to have seizures, a stroke, require more hospitalizations than I can count, and cost her a career as a nurse. This is something very near and dear to me. There is a foundation called the Lupus Foundation of America Mid South Chapter that I have been involved with for the past few months, which supports the individuals and families affected by lupus, as well as funds research and raises awareness for the disease. More than 1.5 million Americans have lupus and over 30,000 in TN alone. This Saturday, the Lupus Foundation of America Mid South Chapter holds their annual Walk to End Lupus Now! in Centennial Park. This year, they DESPERATELY need volunteers. If you, or someone you know, might be interested in giving your time to a great organization this Saturday, please PM me or comment here. Even if you can only help for a little while, every little bit is much appreciated! They need help with any number of activities, including: 1 Volunteer for face painting/supervision for the Kids corner (3-6:30/7) 1 Volunteer to man the Walk Registration desks (2-5pm) 2-3 Volunteers to greet walk attendees/direct them to the appropriate areas (between 2-5pm) 3-4 Volunteers to hand out water and snacks (between 5:30-7pm) 3+ Volunteers to help with clean up (which will begin after 5pm) You get a free t-shirt and get to help a cause that is very near and dear to me as an Inglewood citizen. Thanks so much for reading.
