Hide-N-Seek... Isnt it funny how a simple childhood game of hide-n-seek can teach you something? A while back, I played a game of hide-n-seek with the neighborhood kids. Actually, it was a bit more of a challenge than just a friendly game...when one of the youngsters (20 something years younger than myself) said You know, Mrs. Boo, to play you have to be able run...a bit of my competitive spirit arose! So, I flicked off my flip flops, because you cant run in flip flops, and the games began! You know in hide-n-seek one person is IT - the one you hide from - and the others find hiding places while IT counts. When the counting is over, IT comes to find you - if you are found you run really fast to get to base so you wont be tagged the next IT. You are always looking for the best hiding places - ones that you think IT wont find you - I even thought of hiding in a neighbors garbage can - then I resigned and decided I didnt want to smell like garbage, LOL! After several rounds of hiding, running barefoot and getting caught a few times I needed to take a break! I got tired of running and my feet were beginning to become sore from running barefoot on the pavement...not to mention that one of the older kids decided they wanted to join the game. I knew that I was doomed because this kid was fast and good at finding your hiding place...so I copped out and sat on the side-lines watching until it was time for the kiddos to go inside for the night. As I had my quiet time the next morning I reflected on last night and how we try to outrun God...try to find those hiding places...those places that we think we can crawl into and not be found...how we try to hide our fears and our weaknesses...how we sit on the sidelines because we believe that we cannot possibly do what God is calling us to do...how we view others as more spiritual and better so we leave it up to them to do the work. My friends, God is IT...we cannot outrun Him and we surely cannot hide from Him---Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens You are there! If I make my bed in the depths, You are there! If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast - Psalm 139:7-10. Our God seeks us...He finds us...He equips us...He loves us...He longs for us to stop trying to hide and to just sit at His feet...it is not our responsibility to discover what Gods will is, it is His responsibility to reveal it...and He will if we quit running...are your feet sore??? ~Boo
