High Black Ice Threat & Dangerous Cold As you may expect the threat for black ice will be high throughout the overnight and tomorrow. Any snow that has melted on roadways/sidewalks will have the potential to refreeze. I urge any motorists traveling to use caution and be aware for black ice. Temperatures this evening will drop into the lower teens this evening and flurries will remain possible. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing through the weekend. Wednesday strong winds will make a return to the region and will make things feel much colder. Highs tomorrow are expected to top out only in the low to mid 20s. Winds out of the west will be in the 10-20 mph range sustained with gusts over 30 mph possible. This will make temperatures feel like theyre in the single digits. Snow showers will be possible during the afternoon hours but little, if any, accumulation is expected. Wednesday night into Thursday morning the region will experience dangerous cold temperatures. Lows are expected to fall between 2-6 degrees for lows with strong winds continuing to persist. Wind chills will be in the negatives and could approach -10 at times during the overnight and daytime Thursday. Thursday highs will struggle to climb out of the teens in many locations. Since this is the first real cold to hit the region this season keep in mind the elderly, special needs, and pets since they are more susceptible to very cold temperatures. Bring pets inside and check on those susceptible to the cold frequently. Everyone stay warm and safe! Please take some time to share this post. Thank you!
