High Tide information from the Council for the east of Christchurch: Christchurch can expect high tides over the next three days, with the peak tides occurring in the evenings from 5:00pm this evening to 7:00pm on Wednesday. The tides are not expected to cause significant issues and will be somewhat suppressed by the high pressure system that is sitting over Canterbury at present. Present indications are that the tides will reach Reduced Level* 10.30m at Bridge Street in the Avon River and Ferrymead Bridge on the Heathcote River. Tides of this magnitude are unlikely to create any flooding of a serious nature. The Citys contractors and staff will be monitoring the high tide periods to ensure the infrastructure is operating effectively. *Reduced Level is in terms of the Christchurch Drainage Datum. It is the common way of showing levels within the city and differentiates between mean sea level which is the other common way of expressing levels.
