High growth for Indonesia’s meat processing industry [05 September 2013] Indonesia’s meat processing industry is registering double digit growth. Chairman of the National Meat Processors Association Ishana Mahisa told Asian Agribiz that the average growth recorded exceeds 15% per year, led by two main products namely nuggets and sausages. Both products have become more popular over the last five years since per capita income has been increasing. Mr Mahisa estimated the current market value of the industry at about USD 600 million. “Both the market value and the industry growth have led to increased capacities at existing plants and the appearance of new players.”
