High pressure over southern Canada will allow skies to become partly cloudy tonight, which will lead to cold temperatures. Many areas will bottom out in the single digits. Luckily, winds will be light, so wind chills will not be a factor overnight. A clipper system, currently over the Upper Mid West, will track east and spread more clouds our way Wednesday morning followed by periods of light snow during the afternoon. Light snow will continue overnight and taper to scattered flurries by Thursday morning. Overall accumulations will be light with near an inch expected over the Southern Tier with localized 2 amounts possible over the Northern Tier of Pennsylvania. Temperatures Wednesday will top out near 30 with lows close to 20. Partial clearing will develop during the day Thursday and with high pressure in control on Friday, more sunshine is expected. Temperatures will remain fairly consistent with highs on Thursday in the upper 20s and lower 30s on Friday. Well need to keep a close eye on the forecast for Saturday as the latest computer models have shifted the storm expected to move up the Mid Atlantic Coast a little farther west. This would spread light snow up into parts of northeastern Pennsylvania. If the trend continues, we may need to introduce the chance for at least snow showers into the Twin Tiers. Stay tuned for updates. Clouds will linger on Sunday with a clipper system expected to follow on Monday with scattered snow showers. As the storm system moves away Tuesday, colder temperatures will drop into the region with highs in the teens and lower 20s by midweek.
