High-tech ultra sound scanners to detect dengue By Don Asoka Wijewardena The Health Ministry has taken action to prevent dengue shock and dengue heamorrhogic fever by providing high-tech ultra Sound Scanners, to ten Teaching hospitals in the country. The principal goal was to ensure early detection and prevent the fatal stage of dengue, the Health Ministry said. Health Ministry media spokesman told The Island that on the request of some consultant physicians, Health minister Maithripala Sirisena had decided to allocate ten ultra–sound scanners, which were capable of detecting patients who were about to develop dengue shock and hemorrhagic fever. Generally the patients who were suffering from dengue shock and hemorrhagic fever were liable to die. But the new ultra-sound scanners were capable of detecting in type 1 dengue patients, whether they were in a position to develop shock or hemorrhagic fever. island.lk/index.php?page_cat=article-details&page=article-details&code_title=88230#
