High up on the flat roof, the bright warm sun verifies that I have made it a little bit further. Its something about the rekindled warmth and light as it bathes my face. I see people in short sleeves and pants strolling on the sidewalks below me. Much braver than me I think, as I look down at my north face wind breaker and jeans. The ladder moans in protest, as I grab the full five gallon bucket and hop on the top rung to descend to ground level. Never afraid of height,but now much more cautious with my foot placement and ladder position. There is a sharp contrast in my strength and efficiency as compared to two decades ago, and that vaguely saddens me. I guess its a trade off. Strength for wisdom. Or as some would say, stupidity for senility. Im happy to be working. God has provided once again. Its funny how with faith and patience, things gradually can come back together. The paint is a bit heavier. My joints protest much more insistently. But the sun is still filled with hope. And my mind is clear today. Happy to have another chance.
