Higher Everyday for Saturday, January 24, 2015TITLE :A DISCIPLINED ADOLESCENCE. TEXT:“And the children of Reuben, Israel’s eldest son, by their generations, after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, by their polls, every male from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war.” (Numbers 1:20) As a teenager, Collins Maha was well known in the north of New York as a “serial eater.” Without minding his action, Maha would enter an elegant restaurant in the city, place his order and treat himself to the best, most expensive meal and drink available there. Each time after savouring the delicacy, he was given a bill by the waiter. But Collins would inform the waiter of his inability to pay the bill, and police would arrest him immediately and send him to custody. Later, he would revealed his philosophy: “I like to live decently.” Today, some youths have formed such a bad habit of feeding sumptuously in hotels but leaving the bills for their parents or friends to settle. Only undisciplined youths do that. Living such irresponsible life as a young person is not good. God reveals in today’s Bible passage that you must always live for the glory of God. Every Christian youth has to be disciplined at home, in school, in church and everywhere, like Reuben’s children who took delight in serving God. Challenge: You are expected to possess the mind of Jesus Christ. Prayer:Lord, make me a responsible youth to serve You always. Further Reading:1 Corinthians 9:23 - 27. Quotation:Be disciplined everywhere
